BDL4550D - Screen not responding to Remote Control


Symptoms

Screen can turn on but it doesn't respond to the remote control.

Main Reasons

The following are possible reasons:
1. Wrong remote control is used
2. Remote is set to the wrong mode
3. Remote IR is not emitting light
4. Remote is not being pointed to the IR Sensor
5. There's an IR Sensor Extender plugged into the screen
6. Screen is configured to lock its IR from responding
7. The screen software is corrupt.
8. The IR Sensor/cable is faulty

Troubleshooting Steps

The following steps are designed to help you troubleshoot the issue methodologically 

1. Wrong remote control is used

The following is the remote control supplied with the screen.

The following is a newer model of the BDL remote control and can also be used for this screen.

2. Remote is set to the wrong mode

The remote control has 2 modes, Normal (green LED at the top right of the remote) and ID (red LED at the top right of the remote)
If the red led is blinking keep pressing for 4 secs on the “NORMAL” button
The green led will blink twice and the remote mode will switch back to Normal mode




3. Remote IR is not emitting light

Check if the RC is working, open the camera of your mobile and point the RC to the camera, keep
pressing the “OK” button, you should see the IR led blinking in the mobile camera, see picture
below.
Note: check with a working RC if you can see the IR led on your mobile, on some mobiles you must
change the camera to the front ( like you take a selfie).




4. Remote is not being pointed to the IR Sensor

Please point the remote control to the IR Sensor location

5. There's an IR Sensor Extender plugged into the screen

If an IR Sensor is connected to the screen's IR In port, the IR Sensor will be deactivated

You can either, unplug the IR Sensor or trace the Sensor and point the remote to the Sensor's location

6. Screen is configured to lock its IR from responding

To unlock the IR lock, press the info button on the remote for 6 seconds





Feel free to lodge a support ticket if step 1-6 is not fruitful


7. The screen software is corrupt.
It is possible that the Screen's Software is corrupt and need to be re-imaged

8. The IR Sensor/cable is faulty

It is possible that the IR Sensor/Cable is faulty.
Replacing it need to be done by a Philips technician.
