CMND, TigerTMS iLink and CMND Reception - The Basics

CMND

What is it?

CMND is an end-to-end solution that lets end users manage, update, maintain, and play to their hospitality televisions via one easy-to-use interface. Westan encourages all hospitality television sites to install CMND unless they are deploying a solution via one of our recognised solutions integrators.
CMND allows users to monitor vital functions on their televisions, including network connection, on-off status and more. It enables off-site software updating, check-in and check-out processes that are mandatory for streaming Netflix, app installation and control, and other crucial television management functions.

Who will want it?

All hospitality television sites are strongly encouraged to use CMND, unless they are installing a third-party solution via a solutions integrator. Do not offer CMND to signage customers unless they are BFL customers launching a fleet of BFL units of 10 or more.
Please note that CMND is a free interface but must be run on a clean server connected to the same network as the televisions.
Sites that are not networking their televisions will not be interested in CMND (i.e. mining sites, sites uninterested in centralised control).

Punching a Sales Order

We sell CMND in a kit which includes a custom designed guest user interface (GUI) by professional designers Spotty Dog. The CMND Kit includes:
  1. A server prepared with CMND pre-installed by the Westan Support Team
  2. The Spotty Dog UI design and deployment
  3. A master remote control for site setup and installation
It is not recommended that resellers provide their own server. If they insist, ensure the server is clean (i.e. it must not be running any other programs or functions). In these cases, note the requirement for CMND as a comment line. The Westan Support team will request an instance of CMND to be released for the site from PPDS.

What is it?

TigerTMS iLink is a middleware solution that links CMND to a site's Property Management Software (PMS). It creates a bridge between the PMS and CMND so that the PMS system can pass information to the CMND system. This enables the site reception to check in and check out guests on their own PMS and have that check-in/check-out happen automatically on their CMND instance. This ensures that guests can watch Netflix (which requires guests to be checked into the television). It also enables features such as guest name appearing on the GUI, if the GUI is designed with this feature.
iLink comes in two forms:
  1. A solution that is installed on a virtual server within the on-site CMND server and is bought in perpetuity, but with a support package that expires after a year; or
  2. A cloud-based solution that does not require hardware and is bought at an annual subscription price.

Who will want it?

Sites that are running a PMS system may want to purchase TigerTMS iLink, particularly if they have over 50 rooms. Smaller hotels may not see the benefit of this solution.
Sites running a cloud version of a PMS system (including RMS 9+ Cloud) may need to purchase TigerTMS iLink Cloud. Most sites running popular PMS solutions, including GuestCentrix, Room Master, RMS, Guest Point, NewBook, Opera, Protel, OracleSuite8 and CMS, can make use of TigerTMS iLink.

Punching a Sales Order

TigerTMS iLink must be sold as a kit. Almost all instances of TigerTMS iLink (the non-will require CMNDPMS Kit, which includes:
  1. CMND Server
  2. A custom designed GUI
  3. TigerTMS middleware
  4. An installation remote control for site
  5. A project management installation fee
If the site does not want a UI, use PMS Kit [Server, SW + install]. This package includes:
  1. CMND Server
  2. TigerTMS middleware
  3. An installation remote control for site
  4. A project management installation fee
For TigerTMS iLink Cloud purchases, use code TIGER-TTIL-PHP-S x 1 (annual charge) and HFLPROJECTINSTALL x 1 (one off). TIGER-TTIL-PHP-S is charged per property per year.
It is not recommended that sites use their own server. If they insist, the server must be clean (running no other programs). In these instances, add HFLPROJECTINSTALL x 1 and TIGERTMS x 1 to a sales order.

CMND Reception

What is it?

CMND Reception is a lightweight but fully-featured PMS substitute which allows you to perform certain actions so that a customized guest experience will still be possible. For example, checking in a guest will allow for Netflix to be available on our Mediasuite TV’s, granted that all other requirements for Netflix are met.
CMND Reception aims to be a link between a non-technical profile and the settings driven world of CMND. A link between the installer and the end-user. CMND Reception is a simplified window with a view of the CMND server. A non-technical profile can make use of different modules in this framework to perform certain tasks without the need to enter the CMND server. This prevents any unwanted tampering with configuration files.

Who will want it?

Sites that do not run a Property Management System will find benefits in running a restricted, easy-to-use interface that speaks to CMND. The features that can be accessed via CMND Reception include:
  1. Checking in/out guests into the television
  2. Messaging on the television
  3. Moving people across rooms
  4. Guest Name integration on the television
  5. Guest language integration for optimal guest experience
  6. Functions and actions in relation to groups of people
Sites that run a Property Management System will want a TigerTMS iLink integration instead of CMND Reception. CMND Reception does not require any additional hardware but will require browser access and a CMND instance on a server (see above) to run.
