How to install a local app (for HFL5011/HFL7011/HFLx014/BFL2114)

Android apps can be installed on the TV via several methods:
  1. directly from the Google Play Store (from HFLx014/BFL2114 platforms only)
  2. directly from the Philips Portal (HFLx011/HFLx014/BFL2114 platforms), or
  3. installed locally using a custom apk or a previously downloaded apk.
When installing a local app, this can be done via CMND or manually using a USB. This guide describes the process for manually installing an app. To do so, you can [Clone TV to USB] (including apps) to ensure you are adding your own app to the correct folder structure. Depending on the TV platform you are using, the following clone folder structures will be created on your USB:
  1. For HFL5011: TPM1532HE_CloneData/MasterCloneData/
  2. For HFL7011: TPM1531HE_CloneData/MasterCloneData/
  3. For HFLx014/BFL2114: TPM181HE_CloneData/MasterCloneData/

Install your own apk (if no other apps are installed on the TV)

  1. Copy your xxx.apk into .../MasterCloneData/AndroidApps/ folder on your USB
  2. Download the attached 'AndroidAppsMetaData.json' file template and copy it to the .../MasterCloneData/AndroidApps/ folder on your USB
  3. Download the attached 'AndroidApp_Identifier.txt' file template and copy to the .../MasterCloneData/AndroidApps/ folder on your USB
  4. Edit the 'AndroidApp_Identifier.txt' file:
    - Change 'YourVersionNumber' to a value of your choosing
    - Change 'DD/MM/YY-HH:MM' to current date and time values
    - This identifier will be visible on the cloning page during the cloning process so that you can be sure it has completed
  5. Edit the ‘AndroidAppsMetaData.json’ file:
    - Change ‘xxx.apk’ to the name of your apk file
    - 'digitalSignature’ should stay blank
    - ‘silentAction’ should be ‘install’ to install or ‘remove’ to uninstall
    - 'packageShowHide’ should be 1 for the app to be visible to guests. If it’s set to 0 then the app will not be visible by guests
    - Each apk must have a unique ‘packagePosition’
    - You can edit the country and category lists by removing unnecessary ones if you choose
    - Don’t forget to correctly indicate the total number of apps (‘availablePackages’) at the top of the file or it won’t load
  6. Make sure both files are saved
  7. Reconnect the USB device to the TV and [Clone USB to TV] in the Professional Menu
  8. On the cloning progress screen, the ‘APPS’ section status will become ‘done’ after some time (and show your updated identifier as confirmation)

Install your own apk (if there are other apps installed on the TV already)

  1. Copy your xxx.apk into .../MasterCloneData/AndroidApps/ folder on your USB
  2. Edit the ‘AndroidAppsMetaData.json’ file in the /AndroidApps/ folder as explained above and pay attention:
    - Each apk must have a unique ‘packagePosition’
    - You can edit the country and category lists by removing unnecessary ones if you choose
    - Don’t forget to correctly indicate the total number of apps (‘availablePackages’) at the top of the file or it won’t load
  3. Edit the ‘AndroidApp_Identifier.txt’ file in the /AndroidApps/ folder as explained above
N.B.
  1. on HFLx011 platform TVs on default settings, a selection of default Philips portal apps will be downloaded from the cloud when you switch off/on the TV.
  2. If you only want your own local apps on the TV, set the SmartTV mode to 'Local Apps', found here: [Features] -> [Apps] -> [Mode]
