Philips periodically releases software updates to address issues and add features. Ensuring your TV runs the latest software is crucial to minimize encountering known problems. This guide outlines the forced update process using the upgrade_loader.pkg file, a last-resort method when other update procedures fail.
The upgrade_loader.pkg (forced) software update should be used only as a last resort. The recommended method for updating your device is through the autorun.upg (normal) software update. For the normal update method, refer to the official guide: [HFL5x14 HFL6x14 autorun.upg normal software update](https://support.westan.com.au/portal/en-gb/kb/articles/hfl5x14-hfl6x14-autorun-upg-normal-software-update).
1. Verify the version of the software in
your SharePoint folder before proceeding.
[SharePoint
Folder](https://westanonline.sharepoint.com/:f:/s/Support/EhvpvCPhuqRVod0ORO2BcrQBRmB50HPNA6POCOBkHLlvkw?e=7pkoUY)
Download the appropriate
upgrade_loader.pkg file from the designated folder.
Some USB drives might not be detected by the TV for software updates. If you encounter issues, try different brands or models of USB drives.
1. Format the USB Drive:
- File System: FAT32
- Allocation Unit Size: 64 kilobytes
2. Copy Files to USB:
- Place the upgrade_loader.pkg file in
the root directory of the USB drive.
1. Power On the TV: Ensure the TV is turned
on before starting.
2. Insert USB Drive: Plug the USB drive into a USB 2.0 port located at the back
of the TV (avoid using side ports).
3. Turn Off Power: Disconnect the TV from the power source (AC off).
4. Turn On Power: Reconnect the TV to the power source (AC on).
5. Start Software Update**: The front LED will start flashing, indicating the
update process. A message saying 'Upgrade in progress' should appear.
If nothing happens after 10 minutes,
turn off the power, try a different USB port, and repeat step 4.
6. Complete the Update: Once the update is complete, remove the USB drive.
7. Verify Software Version: Check the software version on the second page of
the CSM menu using the code 123654 or the sequence mute, right, left, down, up,
OK. The software version will be displayed in the format
TPM181HE_w.xxx.yyy.zzz, where w.xxx.yyy.zzz is the version number.
