BDL3117P USB Playlist

USB Playlist

USB Playlist allow the screen to play content from multiple playlist.
Different playlist can be played at different time of the day or different day of the week
To use this feature, the photo/video files need to be stored in certain directory location in the USB Drive and named in a certain way.

If you only have 1 playlist to play at all time, use the USB Autoplay feature instead which is easier to setup (https://support.westan.com.au/portal/en-gb/kb/articles/bdl3117p-usb-autoplay)

Media File

The USB Playlist uses the Screen's media player.
It supports both video (MP4) and image file (baseline JPEG).
However, including video into the playlist introduces 1s gap between playing one media to the next.
For best outcome, it's recommended to only play JPEG media files

Baseline JPEG

JPEG file are compressed using progressive and non progressive (baseline/standard) compression.
Progressive compression takes longer to load where the baseline/standard is much faster.
When a progressive JPEG image is used, there will be a gap before that JPEG image is being played.
It's best to convert the progressive JPEG image to baseline JPEG image.

If you're not certain if your JPEG file is a baseline JPEG or progressive JPEG, it's easiest to just edit the JPEG file using Microsoft Paint, and then re-save which should save it as baseline JPEG

Playing Portrait Content

The Internal Media Player only support landscape Video.
If you're mounting the screen in Portrait, you need to rotate it 90 degrees anti-clockwise
To make the portrait image being shown in the right direction, you need to rotate the image 90 degrees clockwise
The easiest way to rotate the image is by editing it in Microsoft Paint, and rotating it 90 degrees clockwise

See the images below to be able to understand the
If you are mounting the screen in Portrait, you need to rotate the image 90 degree
JPEG file are compressed using progressive and non progressive (baseline/standard) compression.
Progressive compression takes longer to load where the baseline/standard is much faster.

When the screen is mounted in landscape, the picture will look like this

But when the screen is mounted in portrait, the image will be orientated in the correct manner.
