BDL3650Q NVM Reset Procedure

BDL3650Q NVM Reset Procedure

Introduction

NVM (Non Volatile Memory) Reset Procedure overwrite the NVM memory area with a model specific NVM image that is usually loaded during the Screen's assembly process.
The NVM image used is dictated by the LCD component (the front part of the screen that lit up and produces picture) used in the screen.
That's why different Philips BDL model WILL require different NVM files
Even 2 BDL3650Q of the same model, with different serial number range may use different LCD types, and thus require different NVM files

NVM Reset Procedure on BDL3650Q is only required IF you accidentally put a wrong NVM.bin file in it initially which would alter the screen behaviour

Prepare the USB Drive:

Format the USB Drive with the following settings:

  File system=FAT32
Allocation unit size = 64 kilobyte

Download NVM.BIN file (Model dependent) into USB Drive.

Download and put files into the root directory of the USB Drive.

Check that the filename are precisely the following names:
NVM.BIN not NVM(1).bin or nvm.bin, etc

Performing NVM Reset

  1. Turn the Screen Off from the Main
  2. Insert the USB Drive into the screen.
  3. Reconnect power to the screen
  4. Wait for about 2 minute - you should see "Upgrade in progress message"
    - IF NOTHING HAPPENS AFTER 10 minutes, POWER OFF screen, try the other USB PORT IN THE screen then repeat step 3.

Once the NVM Reset has been completed, the screen will restart but stuck on Philips initial screen
