BDL4152E - Normal Firmware Update Procedure


Check the current FW Version


Press the following remote control button sequence,  INFO, 7, 7 ,  to check the Firmware version (FB xx.xx)
If the Version is FB01.15 - you're on the latest version)
If the FW Version is below FB01.08, then you need to do the forced update procedurehttps://support.westan.com.au/portal/en-gb/kb/articles/bdl4152e-forced-firmware-update-procedure
If the FW version is FB01.08 or above, you can follow this SOP

Downloading the Android SW update file


If not, download the latest Android firmware (upgrade.zip) to a PC from https://westanonline.sharepoint.com/:f:/s/Support/En1JGhirG-RKsYFJeBdPO6sBZgQOsQ4SXn3r9SUGIQqLMA?e=xzg1dx
Copy the update.zip file to the root directory of a USB stick formatted in FAT32.

Do not unzip the file.

Performing the Android SW update


Plug in the USB drive to the screen.

Press the HOME button on the remote controller
Select "Android settings" or press the remote control sequence HOME, 1, 8, 8, 8 to access the Android menu: 
Enter the password if the display is prompting for it (password is entered by the first user .. it could also be blank . you need to ask the first user for this password)

Navigate to Settings Signage DisplaySystem UpdatesLocal update and press OK to initiate the firmware update.
The screen will restart upon completion of the firmware update.

Some USB drives do not get detected by the screen. If the screen fails to recognise the update file, try a different USB drive.

Verify the firmware has been updated by pressing INFO, 7, 7 buttons on the remote.

Factory Reset (optional)


Factory reset is not mandatory after a FW update has been performed.
Doing so will wipe out all the apps installed and all Android settings.
Most of the time, not doing a factory reset will not cause issues.
If you do have apps running in Android, it is best to test the screen's behaviour without performing a factory reset.

Press the following remote button sequence to enter the factory mode: HOME, 1, 9, 9, 9, BACK
Navigate to Factory Reset setting and press OK.
Select YES to confirm and initiate the factory reset process. The screen will turn off after the reset has been completed.
Turn off the power to the screen from the mains power switch and turn it on again.


Touch Firmware Upgrade


Open the factory menu (home1999return), a menu will open,
Select “Update Touch FW


Select “YES”, the Touch firmware will be upgraded.



Update the HDMI Firmware
