xxHFL5014/6014/5114/6114 Troubleshooting - Can't Control TV using the Remote Control

Symptoms

TV can turn on (this can easily be verified by seeing the IR indicator changing color when the TV is turned on or TV showing something) but the TV doesn't respond to remote control

Main Reasons

The symptoms of TV unable to be controlled via the remote control could be caused by various things.
The following is the most common reasons
1. TV Data port (yellow RJ45) is connected to the ethernet cable.
There are 2 RJ45 interfaces on the TV, the yellow RJ45 for Data port (Serial & IR connections) and the grey RJ45 for Network port (LAN)
When Network (LAN) cable is connected to the TV Data port (yellow RJ45), the Network (LAN) cable pins will transmit to the Data port's IR Rx pins.
This will cause the IR sensor to be inundated with unintelligible messages which causes the IR sensor not to be able to work at all.
2. Incompatible TV remote is being used.
3. TV Remote is not emitting IR light
4. TV remote control is accidentally set to wrong Multi RC mode
5. TV IR Lock is on
6. TV IR Lock is on and TV is set to High Security Mode
7. TV software has problem
8. TV main board or IR sensor is faulty

Troubleshooting Steps

The following steps are designed to help you troubleshoot the issue methodologically

Steps
1. Check if there's cable connected to the TV data port (Yellow RJ45),

If there is, remove it and test if you can turn the TV on.
If you now can, that mean the ethernet cable has been connected to the WRONG port, it need to be connected to the RJ45 labelled NETWORK instead, not DATA.
If the TV still shows no sign of life, proceed to step 2.

2. Incompatible TV remote is being used.
Check if the remote looks like this

3. TV Remote is not emitting IR light
Check if the RC is working, open the camera of your mobile and point the RC to the camera, keep
pressing the “OK” button, you should see the IR led blinking in the mobile camera, see picture
below.
Note: check with a working RC if you can see the IR led on your mobile, on some mobiles you must
change the camera to the front ( like you take a selfie).
Try changing the battery with a known good one.

4. TV remote control is accidentally set to wrong Multi RC mode
Guest may have accidentally change the remote control's Mult-RC mode.
Please press the Home button first, and while that is being pressed, press the blue square button on the remote, and hold both for 10 seconds to change the Remote control's mode back to default mode = blue

and redo the test.
